Abbey House Walks
After you have walked the beautifully landscaped grounds of Abbey House why not venture further out into the Southern Peninsula?
Follow the path at the back of the hotel to the Abbey Ruins; from here you will be able to seek out some of the Lake Districts seldom seen gems.
Below are some delightful local walks where you will be able to see The Abbey Ruins and from here past the old Abbey Inn to walk the wooded ‘Vale of Nightshade towards Dalton in Furness. Head for the Brown Cow at Goose Green (one of the oldest buildings in the area) for a pit stop before climbing the hill by the side of the pub to Market Cross where you will be able to see Dalton St. Marys Church and Dalton Castle!
Those explorers wanting to venture further afield should not miss out on the South Walney Nature Reserve which offers some of the most breath-taking views off the tip of the Southern Peninsula as well as a vast array of wildlife and geological interests. Just a ten minute drive from the hotel.
Please ask a member of the Abbey Team if you would like any specific local directions such as the wonderful Roanhead Beach or ideas for different adventures!
