Abbey House Hotel & Gardens Looking Ahead

In January 2017, we will be renovating 15 bedrooms throughout Abbey House Hotel & Gardens. This is a very exciting time for us as it will complete the rebrand of the hotel. Future guests staying in hotel, whether it be a short break, romantic getaway, corporate stays or the end of your perfect wedding day, will experience the best luxury comforts that Abbey House Hotel & Gardens have to offer.

We decided to keep everything as local to the Furness area as possible including suppliers and contractors. This means that we can keep the renovation for the beautifully designed, luxury rooms on track to be completed by the end of February 2017.

Enjoy a work out? In 2018 the hotel also plans to have a fully working gym, complete with state of the art equipment, which will be available for exclusive use of our guests.

Why stop there? We will also be welcoming a new treatment room for both residents and non-residents. The treatment room will be fitted out with two transformable private rooms and completed with the top of the range beauty parlour and products.  The Elements team will be here to make you feel pampered and relaxed throughout your stay at the hotel, with a range of massages from an Indian head massage to a full body lava shell massage, we believe you will walk away felling the best version of yourself!

The hotels rebrand will be completed with eye-catching garden landscapes and a further extension on our Cavendish Suite, defining Abbey House Hotel & Gardens as THE wedding venue of the North West.

Purple. We both met with a mutual love of Purple, and that hasn’t changed in the years we’ve been together. We even have a purple fireplace in our home!

Favourite movie

Edward Scissorhands – at our wedding, Katie walked down the aisle to the Ice Dance 🙂

Favourite song

The Ice Dance from Edward Scissorhands – for our first anniversary, Katie commissioned the INCREDIBLE Leos Quartet to record a one-off arrangement of this for strings – let’s say it holds a rather special place in our hearts.

Favourite part of a wedding

We love wedding mornings! As a husband and wife team, we get to spend the whole morning with ‘our half’ of the wedding party, capturing the excitement, nerves and last minute emotional moments before the ceremony. We both love to see what the other has been up to when we meet up after the ceremony to shoot the rest of the day. We love all of a wedding day, but the morning preparation is where we can really start to create an authentic story personal to our couples, and is the foundation of the way we work to capture the rest of the day.

About you & your business

Hi, we’re Katie and James, a Husband and Wife wedding photography team from Lytham St Annes in Lancashire, and we travel all over the UK and internationally for our couples. We have a very relaxed and natural style, and having us both means we can shoot from two unique perspectives throughout the wedding day. We focus on the emotion, the connection between family and friends at a wedding, and our aim is to create an authentic visual story of the wedding day from beginning to end.

About you & your business

I have been making wedding films for just over a year (with Abbey House being one of my first venues) and I’m still pinching myself that this counts as an actual “job”. Film has always been a passion of mine, and I absolutely love capturing people’s stories, knowing they will cherish these memories forever.

My favourite part of a wedding as a stylist is seeing everything come together on the day. I love to see the bride and grooms themes come to life and how the choice of our chair covers and sashes compliment their decor, favours, flowers, cake and wedding outfits.

About you & your business

Sitting Pretty was established in May 2015 by myself Marie Scott after taking over the business from a busy local florist. With over ten years experience in the creative industry I decided to take a bit of time out to spend with my family and through planning my own wedding the perfect opportunity arose to start Sitting Pretty. I have always loved all aspects of design and using my creative flair so am thrilled to help couples plan their perfect day.

This changes regularly – at the moment it is “serenity” blue – one of pantone’s colours of 2016.
It’s actually the colour that inspired our Bluebell and Ivy brand.

Favourite movie

It has to be ‘Walk the line’ – a 2005 American movie based upon the early life and career of country singer jonny cash.
It’s fab – I love true stories!

Favourite song

This is a difficult one – I have always loved the spice girls ever since I was a little girl. – However I am absolutely mad about Michael BublÉ … so it will have to be one of his songs named ‘everything’.

Favourite part of a wedding

Meeting my brides and bringing their ideas to life is definitely my favourite part.
I really enjoy taking snippets of their imagination, combining them with my creative love for flowers and producing something extra special for them.
The thought of creating pieces so bespoke and different each and every time is what keeps my innovation alive.
The possibilities are endless!

About you & your business

My name is Lauren Hart – I am the owner and floral designer at Bluebell and Ivy.
I first entered the floristry world at the age of 14 as a Saturday girl for Deborah’s Florist on Ainslie Street, Barrow. Over time, Deborah and the girls who worked there trained me in every aspect of working with flowers, from teaching me all the technical elements of floral design to learning how to condition, prepare and understand flowers.
At 19 I started at Loughborough University where I gained my degree in textile design – This was an invaluable experience as I was taught to understand colour and texture combination along with how to watch and forecast trends – this is now a natural instinct of mine and I always apply this to all areas of my floristry work.
In my spare time, whilst I was down south, I gained a certificate in ‘advanced bridal’ floristry at the well-known Jane Packer School in London. This was when I realised that I really wanted to be back in a flower shop – and so I began planning the launch of Bluebell and Ivy.
