Back in July, we had the very glamorous Aynsley & Ben celebrate their marriage at Abbey House Hotel & Gardens. The day was magical from start to finish, filled with love, laughter and tears from all their close family and friends.
Eriin Browne defiantly captured the romance in the air on the day!
We caught up with the lovely Aynsley and Ben after the wedding to ask her a couple of questions about their big day!
How did you know Abbey House was the right venue for you?
Myself, husband and bridal party had visited many places at the lake district and had actually provisionally booked a venue. However, my cousin Dionne who had married at Abbey House on 7th December 2013 had prompted me to visit Abbey House knowing I wasn’t certain on the current selected venue.
We came to abbey house and I was instantly attracted to the venue and décor which was fitting to my taste. Myself and Ben had a meeting with John Horton who was very warm, welcoming and accommodating. From this date we booked Abbey House Hotel and Gardens for 23rd July 2016 and we didn’t look back.
“Ben & Aynsley we’re great fun to photograph. Their wedding was modern, fun and glamorous – perfect for their personalities! It was a celebration all day and the families were lovely, what a beautiful father daughter bond. We had gorgeous weather all day and I took the opportunity to head off with them both for my favourite part of the day, bride and groom portraiture. We actually shot these pretty quickly as they were eager to get back and join their guests, but with the gorgeous grounds of Abbey House to play with we didn’t need to go far or take long at all. Ben came to the rescue at one point scooping his bride up in his arms to get across some mud, and I’m sure they both agree the little detour was worth it.”
I didn’t choose a particular theme but I wanted an elegant, modern glamorous feel for our day. I knew the colours and theme I wanted when I first started planning our wedding; as a stressed bride I did doubt everything I had chosen but this came together perfectly on the day and I was so happy with everything.
How did you feel the morning of your wedding?
Nervous actually!! I wasn’t nervous at all to the buildup of our wedding but Ben was but our places switched on the morning of our wedding. Once I’d had a couple of glasses of champagne my nerves soon settled.
What was the best thing about your wedding day?
Marrying my husband in front of our friends and family. Also seeing all the hard work pay off and being able to share such as perfect day with everyone.
If you could do it again would you change anything?
Book Abbey House for the weekend as the day went so fast I wish we could do it all over again!!
Would you recommend Abbey House Hotel & Gardens to your friends?
Absolutely! The service we received was excellent and you have to take advantage of a beautiful venue that’s on our doorstep.
You must agree that Aynsley & Ben’s wedding could be more perfect… take a look at their fairy tale wedding film captured by the fantastic Moviart Films.
On Saturday 8th November, Abbey House Hotel and Gardens held a fabulous Winter Ball. Guests donned their black tie dinner suits, glamourous evening gowns and joined us for a marvellous night of fine food and live entertainment.
The event took place in the beautiful Cavendish Suite, which was transformed into a magical winter wonderland. Welcomed with a champagne drinks reception, guests enjoyed an enchanting night of dinner and dancing.
Two acts performed at the Winter Ball. Starting with Howard Wing, whose charismatic charm and soothing voice entertained guests during dinner. Followed by a rocking band, The Rips, that upped the tempo and got everyone on their dancing feet!
Whilst partying the night away, guests kindly donated money to St Mary’s Hospice. Special thanks to Zoe from the hospice who said a few words about St Mary’s Hospice and how the money is used.
Have a look at the video of the Ball by following the link below that Nick Collinge created for us, thanks Nick!
Abbey House Hotel and Gardens is proud to have hosted a Lancashire Magazine Lunch in our rosette awarded restaurant, Oscar’s. Local business people were invited to enjoy an afternoon of delicious freshly-cooked food, live music and great company.
Guests arrived from 12.30pm to enjoy reception drinks and a chance to network with other guests, before being shown to their tables in Oscar’s. Tim Kilroe, the owner of Abbey House Hotel thanked guests for attending and said a few words, followed by Joanne Geddes from Lancashire Magazine. The beautiful voice of Paula Bolton provided great background entertainment throughout reception drinks and dinner, which created a real buzz around the restaurant.
The menu included a beautiful demi tasse of roasted butternut squash and parmesan veloute followed by a trio of fishcakes starter. For the main event, guests enjoyed duo of lamb that included braised shoulder and miniature rack, boulangere potato, green beans and red currant jus. To finish off this scrumptious meal, guests received a chocolate fondant with real ale ice cream. Delicious!
All in all, it was a very relaxing afternoon – lovely treat for a Thursday! Make sure to look out for the pictures coming up in the December issue of the Lancashire Magazine.
It isn’t just our own events that can be held exclusively in Oscar’s! Oscar’s can be hired out completely for private functions, as we have done for our Lancashire Magazine Lunch, providing an alternative to a function room setting. The chic, central bar and state of the art sound system create the perfect party atmosphere, or if you would prefer something more relaxed, the mood lighting and cosy furnishings offer a cool, laid-back feel. We also have The Garden Room that can accommodate smaller parties for a more intimate dining experience, whilst still experiencing the mouth-watering dishes and top class service that Oscar’s provides.
At Oscar’s you will enjoy the best food, the best drinks, the best service and, of course, the best surroundings in South Cumbria. …from start to finish, whether you’re here for drinks and nibbles or your most special celebration, we hope you enjoy everything Oscar’s has to offer.
