There are many attractions in the immediate vicinity of Abbey House Hotel & Gardens for all the family to enjoy. The South Lakes Wild Animal Park is just a 5 minute drive away. Slightly further afield you can find Thomas & Friends at the Haverthwaite Railway Village.

The closest attraction that you will find is just a stroll away. Lying behind the trees, at the end of our beautiful grounds you will find the Furness Abbey Ruins. The impressive, romantic ruins of an Abbey founded by Stephen, later King of England provide a wonderful day out.

Lakes Coniston & Windermere are just a 40 minute drive and the beautiful villages of Hawkeshead & Ambleside are just a few miles more. If you don’t fancy driving, there is also a train station in Barrow in Furness which takes you to various spots around the Lake District, which is just a stones-throw from our location.

Barrow itself offers a superb dockside museum with coastal walks that can take you to the Walney Island Nature reserve and a local seal community can be viewed on a regular basis. The local Lake District and Cumbria attractions make for the ideal holiday or weekend break.
